S925 Silver & Gold-Plated Jewelry Care
Understanding what your jewelry is made from makes everyday care simpler. Check each product's materials section: gold-plated sterling silver and solid gold are different constructions and should not be confused.
What does S925 mean?
S925 denotes sterling silver, an alloy containing 92.5% silver. When a product is described as 18K gold-plated sterling silver, its base is sterling silver with an outer gold layer. It is not solid 18K gold.
Keep the finish looking bright
Put jewelry on after applying perfume, lotions and cosmetics. To help the plating last longer, take it off before showering, swimming, cleaning or exercising. Chlorine, salt water, chemicals and friction can affect the finish. Occasional water contact is not the same as a guarantee that plating will remain unchanged.
Clean gently
After wear, wipe with a soft, clean cloth. Avoid abrasive polish, toothpaste, harsh cleaning chemicals and vigorous rubbing on plated surfaces. If the piece needs more than a gentle wipe, ask us about care for that specific design before using a cleaning solution or machine.
Store pieces separately
Keep jewelry dry and separate rings, necklaces and bracelets so they do not rub together. Fasten chains before storage to reduce tangling. Sterling silver can tarnish; Tiffany's silver care guidance also describes the importance of appropriate storage.
Inspect before wearing
Check that clasps close securely and that stones do not feel loose. Stop wearing a piece if a clasp or setting needs attention, and contact us with the product name and a clear photo.
